The next time you open a box of Girl Scout cookies, pay close attention to what you are grabbing. The Girl Scouts just announced that dog treats are officially entering their lineup.

Every single time I spot a troop outside a grocery store or coffee shop, my self-control evaporates. I set out to buy one box and walk away with twenty. I cannot help it. But every cookie season comes with the exact same guilt trip. My dog sitting on the living room rug, wanting Thin Mints.

Up until now, the rule was absolute: no sharing. Chocolate is toxic to dogs, sugar is terrible for them, and puppy-dog eyes do not change veterinary science.

Starting in the 2027 cookie season, that changes. Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) teamed up with BARK to create Patch Pals. An official cookie baked specifically for dogs. Alongside it, they are also introducing Girl Scout Sparkables, an allergy-friendly cookie made with Partake Foods.

What Are Patch Pals? The Official Girl Scout Dog Cookie

Patch Pals are soft-baked, blueberry muffin-flavored dog treats developed in partnership with BARK, the company behind BarkBox.

Instead of an ordinary bone shape, each treat is stamped with one of four classic Girl Scout “patch” designs to mirror the actual badges scouts earn.

A quick note of caution: while they are called “cookies,” these are formulated strictly as dog treats. Do not mix them up with your own pantry snacks, and definitely do not feed regular human Girl Scout cookies like Samoas or Tagalongs to your dog. My mastiff PupCake is going to be hyped when he eats these.

What Are Girl Scout Sparkables? The Allergy-Safe Option

Alongside the dog treats, the Girl Scouts are tackling a long-standing issue for kids and parents who manage severe food allergies.

The new human cookie is called Girl Scout Sparkables, created in collaboration with Partake Foods. If you have never heard of Partake, they specialize in snacks built around strict allergen controls.

Sparkables are crunchy oatmeal cookies packed with chocolate chips and colorful sprinkles. They are produced in a dedicated facility designed to steer clear of the top nine food allergens: peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, wheat, milk, soy, fish, shellfish, and sesame.

For families who have had to sit out cookie season because of cross-contamination risks or ingredient worries, this gives them an easy, safe seat at the table.

Where and When Can You Buy Patch Pals and Sparkables?

Do not run down to the supermarket booth expecting to see these on the folding table next spring.

Both Patch Pals and Girl Scout Sparkables launch nationally on January 12, 2027, for the 2027 Girl Scout Cookie season.

There is an important catch you need to plan around: both items are online-only exclusives.

• How to buy them: You will order them directly online for home shipping through a local scout’s digital cookie link or via the official Girl Scout cookie portal.
• In-person booths: Local troops will not carry boxes of Patch Pals or Sparkables at physical cookie booths outside storefronts.
• Proceeds: Even though they ship directly to your door, the proceeds still stay local, funding council operations, camp trips, and troop community projects just like the traditional box sales do.

Until January 2027 arrives, keep your human cookies securely out of snout reach, give your pup a regular dog biscuit, and prepare your freezer space for when the digital order links go live.
